Headstart was originated in 2000 to give the very young
a headstart in their learning ablities. Patricia Angus Started working
at Headstart the first year it opened on July 2000. Patricia has started
a new year at Headstart in the beginning of September 2000.
Larissa Stephens and Cheryl Doolan are also employed at Headstart. Larissa
has her ECE, it took her 2 long years to get her ECE. All three have their
Food Safe and First Aid Certificates.
The maximum of students they can teach is 16. Their hours
of operation is 9am-5 pm. They have morning,afternoon and after school
classes.The students do have their favorite activitys which are playdough
and finger painting.
The students are now currently learning how to speak Nisga'a,
paint, finger paint,share and most importantly, to get along.The age group
for Headstart is 18 months to 2 years.Their daily schedule is as follows:
Morning Classes:
9:00 - 9:05 - Greetings
9:06 - 9:50 - Free play or art activities.
9:50 - 10:00 - Clean up and washing hands for snack
10:00 - 10:15 - Snack
10:15 - 10:20 - Brushing teeth.
10:20 - 10:40 - Nisga'a
10:40 - 10:50 - Playdough / puzzles
10:50 - 11:00 - Clean up / story / home time.
Afternoon Classes:
1:00 - 1:05 - Greetings
1:05 - 1:50 - Free play or art activities
1:50 - 2:00 - Clean up and washing hands for snack
2:00 - 2:15 - Snack
2:15 - 2:20 - Brushing teeth
2:20 - 2:35 - Nisga'a
2:35 - 2:50 - Playdough / puzzles
2:50 - 3:00 - Clean up / story / home time
After School Classes:
3:15 - 3:20 - Greetings
3:20 - 3:50 - Gym / free time / or art activities
3:50 - 3:55 - Clean up and washing hands for snack .
3:55 - 4:10 - Snack
4:10 - 4:15 - Brushing teeth
4:15 - 4:35 - Play dough / puzzles
4:35 - 4:45 - Clean up / story / home time.
